AccessChicago Expo for People with Disabilities

Thousands of people with disabilities, as well as their families and friends, will attend AccessChicago 2010, offering businesses and other organizations a unique and cost-effective way to market their services to one of the nation’s growing populations.

Set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 15 at Navy Pier – Festival Hall A, AccessChicago is presented by the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) and sponsored and funded by NBC-5 Chicago, the Chicago Community Trust and the Chicago Park District.

The event has grown in popularity in each of its 12 years, and exhibitor space is at a premium. Currently, a limited amount of booths are still available. Businesses, service organizations and others interested in obtaining exhibitor information are encouraged to call MOPD at 312-746-5702 (voice) or 312-744-7833 (TTY) or visit www.cityofchicago.org/mopd.

“AccessChicago will showcase the many products, services, programs and attractions that the Chicagoland area has to offer people with disabilities,” said Mayor Richard M. Daley. “The Expo is part of our ongoing efforts to make Chicago the most accessible city in the nation.”

The event will also serve as the City’s official celebration of two important milestones in the disability community: the 20th anniversaries of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Chicago’s MOPD.

“Chicago has a very active and involved disability community and AccessChicago helps connect families with disabilities to valuable community based services and programs,”said MOPD Commissioner Karen Tamley.
